Ray Boller from DTE

We learned about the current state of DTE and their future plans for providing not only electricity but other services as well. Thanks go to Mark Glasby for inviting Ray and assisting with the presentation.

July is Literacy Month

The plan to distribute dictionaries was well received at last weeks meeting. We need to know how many 3rd Graders there are in the Lapeer school system as well as the number of classrooms. The idea is to donate a premium dictionary to the classroom on behalf of the club and our guest speakers. We will distribute these and the student dictionaries during our "Reading with a Rotarian" visits during the school year. Ask Jim Chybowski or Ken Tysick how you can get involved in this important and enjoyable project....Prez

Literacy - "The basic reading, writing, math, communication, and computer skills necessary to be successful in the home, at work, and in the community." Check out www.dictionaryproject.org.

"The will to do it"

Golf Outing: Time's up, Dave Ethridge and Jim Luisier need everyone's help in making this year's event a success. Sponsors, teams, volunteers need to be finalized today!

Texas Hold'em Update: Ernie Miller will be conducting dealer training at the Aug 9th meeting. Until then, video and pictures will be available on the web site for downloading and viewing.

Soap Box Derby Update: Despite the storms on Sunday, we took the derby cars out to the hill for test run. - To paraphrase Chief Brodie in the movie "Jaws", "We're gonna need a bigger ramp!"
