Show Off!

Yes, that's Joanie Ethridge's ball sitting comfortably 2 feet from the pin on hole 2 at Devil's Ridge. This year's outing was another great success due to the club's participation and tireless efforts of our golf committee. We looked sharp in our new Maize and Blue Rotary shirts (I didn't know they made them in "extra-medium").

There was a tie for second place this year and a "scorecard playoff" determined the official winner. However, after many adult beverages and taunts by the 'losing' team, a very entertaining, winner-take-all ,one-hole playoff ensued after dinner in the fading twilight. I don't think the second place status was changed.

Lapeer Days - Help Needed!

Only a few more fun events to go this summer. Today we will learn what it takes to be a card shark - I mean dealer for the Texas Hold'em. Ernie will be giving us a short training session followed by hands-on experience. The Flint River Cleanup project is continuing with an opportunity to help out tonight at 4pm and another next week (Aug 16) also at 4pm in Rotary Park. Finally, preparations for Lapeer's first ever Soap Box Derby on Aug 21 at 1pm need to be finalized. We will be getting a lot of press and visibilty during Lapeer Days so don't miss this opportunity to tell our story. It's all about the marketing......Prez

"The will to do it"

Texas Hold'em Update: Ernie Miller will be conducting dealer training at the Aug 9th meeting. Until then, video and pictures will be available on the web site for downloading and viewing.

Soap Box Derby Update: We have been asked to display the derby cars in the Lapeer Days parade. There is still time to get your company name on the cars. Thanks go to Central Michigan Lumber for donating building materials.
